This is a modern take on an original plate from Andreas Cellarius's Harmonia Macrocosmica (1660), a celebrated celestial atlas of the Dutch Golden Age that mapped the heavens according to the great cosmological systems of antiquity and the early modern era. The cherub shown here is drawn from one of its northern star-chart plates.
In this reimagined design, the original figure is paired with bold modern streetwear elements — the word FERAL in large condensed lettering, an outline echo of the same word, and small graphic register marks — all added by us and not part of the historical plate. A small line printed on the design reads "After Andreas Cellarius, 1660."
The original figure is a winged putto, or cherub, shown nearly nude and striding forward with reddish feathered wings. He holds up a hand mirror in one arm and carries a draped length of blue-green cloth, a decorative allegorical figure of the kind that populated the borders and corners of 17th-century celestial maps.
Real art, not AI. A modern take on a real original, reimagined, with our own lettering and graphic marks added. No AI-generated images, ever.
A print that lasts. Water-based pigment inks are pressed into the fabric — no plastic, no cracking, no peeling — so the design stays soft and breathes with the shirt.
Garment-dyed color. Dyed into the finished garment for a soft, vintage-washed tone with subtle depth — richer and more lived-in than a standard printed tee.
Printed on a premium Comfort Colors 1717 garment-dyed tee — heavyweight ringspun cotton with a soft, broken-in feel and a relaxed unisex fit. True to size; size down for a more fitted look.
