Adolphe Willette (1857–1926) was a French painter, illustrator and poster designer closely associated with the artistic and cabaret life of Montmartre. He is best remembered for his playful, satirical imagery and his frequent use of the Pierrot figure, contributing prolifically to the illustrated press and poster culture of late 19th-century Paris.
This lithographic poster advertises L'Événement parisien, promoting the periodical with the headline "À cause de l'été" ("Because of summer") and the announcement that it appears twice a week ("Paraît 2 fois par semaine"). The design belongs to the golden age of the illustrated French advertising poster, printed in Paris — the sheet carries the imprint "Paris. Imp. H. Delatre" and coloring credited to Charpentier — and is signed "Willette" at the lower right.
The composition centers on a winged female figure, partly nude and seated, holding a red accordion-folded object against a summery background of golden wheat, red poppies and a bright blue sky lettered with the bold title. Below her, two cherubic putti recline near the base, with scattered flowers and a red vessel, blending allegorical whimsy with commercial appeal.
Real art, not AI. An authentic work by a real artist — Adolphe Willette, reproduced from the original — never machine-generated.
A print that lasts. Water-based pigment inks are pressed into the fabric — no plastic, no cracking, no peeling — so the design stays soft and breathes with the shirt.
Garment-dyed color. Dyed into the finished garment for a soft, vintage-washed tone with subtle depth — richer and more lived-in than a standard printed tee.
Printed on a premium Comfort Colors 1717 garment-dyed tee — heavyweight ringspun cotton with a soft, broken-in feel and a relaxed unisex fit. True to size; size down for a more fitted look.
