Questions & Answers
Welcome to our gallery. If you have questions about our premium garment-dyed tees, our printing process, or how we source our vintage masterpieces, you'll likely find the answers here.
What kind of fabric do you use?
Every design is printed in-house in Ohio on a premium Comfort Colors 1717 heavyweight tee in Ivory. It is made from 6.1 oz. 100% ring-spun cotton, then garment-dyed and washed for a soft, lived-in feel with the substance and durability of a true heavyweight shirt.
How does the print feel on the shirt?
Unlike standard graphic tees that use thick, rubbery plastisol inks, our process lets the artwork sink directly into the cotton fibers. There's no stiff, heavy layer on your chest — just a shirt that feels incredibly soft, breathable, and comfortably lived-in right out of the package.
Why does the artwork look slightly faded or distressed?
That softly aged character is intentional. We prepare each late 19th- or early 20th-century work to preserve its original patina, then print without a bright white underbase. The ink works with the warm Ivory, garment-dyed fabric to create the muted depth of an antique poster or century-old woodblock print.
How should I wash and care for my wearable art?
To keep the cotton soft and the artwork looking its best, wash your shirt inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach. Hanging to air dry is best for longevity, but you can also tumble dry on the lowest heat setting.
What does "public domain" mean?
When the copyright on a historical work expires, it passes into the public domain — no longer owned by any estate or company, but part of a shared cultural heritage. We spend countless hours scouring digital museum archives and historical libraries worldwide to rescue these forgotten masterpieces and give them a new canvas.
Will you be adding more artists to the collection?
Absolutely. We're constantly digging through archives to curate new collections — from French Belle Époque cabaret posters to intricate Japanese Shin-hanga prints, our gallery is always expanding. Join our newsletter to get first access to new historical artwork.
Are your shirts printed to order?
Yes. To reduce waste and avoid overproduction, every piece of wearable art is printed specifically for you when you place your order. Each shirt is prepared and printed in-house in our Ohio shop, then packed for shipment once the print is ready.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Every shirt is printed to order in our Ohio shop. Most orders are ready to ship within 1-2 business days; during especially busy periods, please allow up to 4 business days. Standard carrier transit time begins after shipment, and you'll receive tracking by email as soon as your artwork is on its way.
What is your return policy?
We want you to love your wearable art. If your shirt arrives damaged, there is an issue with the print quality, or the fit is not right, please reach out within 30 days of receiving your order and we'll help with a replacement, exchange, or return.
What shirt do you print on?
We print exclusively on the Comfort Colors 1717 heavyweight tee in garment-dyed Ivory. The 100% ring-spun cotton has a substantial yet soft, broken-in feel and a relaxed unisex fit. Choose your usual size for the intended relaxed fit, size down for a closer fit, or size up for an oversized look.
What are the shirt measurements?
These are approximate garment measurements measured flat, not body measurements. Width is measured across the chest about 1 inch below the armholes. Length is measured from the highest point of the shoulder to the bottom hem.
| Size | Width | Length |
|---|---|---|
| S | 18.25 in | 26.625 in |
| M | 20.25 in | 28 in |
| L | 22 in | 29.375 in |
| XL | 24 in | 30.75 in |
| 2XL | 26 in | 31.625 in |
| 3XL | 27.75 in | 32.5 in |
Garment measurements can vary slightly. For the best comparison, lay a favorite tee flat, measure it the same way, and compare it with the chart above.
