Takahashi Hiroaki (Shōtei) — Snowy Evening on a Mountain Path — Japanese Woodblock Print Tee

Takahashi Hiroaki (1871–1945), who often signed his work Shōtei, was a Japanese artist associated with the shin-hanga ("new prints") movement, which revived the traditional woodblock print tradition in the early twentieth century. He was a prolific designer of landscape and genre scenes, many produced through the publisher Watanabe Shōzaburō.

This design, titled Snowy Evening on a Mountain Path, captures a lone traveler making their way through a heavy snowfall. Falling snow speckles the entire composition in delicate white flecks, while snow blankets the ground, the mountainside, and the branches of a leaning tree.
