Takahashi Hiroaki (1871–1945), who often signed his work Shotei, was a prolific Japanese woodblock artist associated with the shin-hanga ("new prints") movement of the early twentieth century. Working closely with publisher Watanabe Shozaburo, he produced hundreds of designs, many depicting quiet landscapes, gardens, and seasonal scenes rendered with the atmospheric mood that shin-hanga is known for.

This design, titled "Plum Tree in Snow," captures a winter scene in which a figure sheltered beneath an orange-and-white paper umbrella pauses beside a garden gate. Snow falls softly across the composition, gathering on latticed bamboo fencing and dusting the dark branches of plum trees that bloom with delicate pink and red blossoms overhead. The figure wears a black kimono flecked with snow, forming a striking dark accent against the pale blue-gray sky and white ground.

The print exemplifies the shin-hanga interest in weather, atmosphere, and intimate seasonal beauty — the contrast of blossoming plum against fresh snow is a classic motif in Japanese art, evoking the transition of the seasons and quiet contemplation.

Real art, not AI. An authentic work by a real artist — Takahashi Hiroaki (Shōtei), reproduced from the original — never machine-generated.

A print that lasts. Water-based pigment inks are pressed into the fabric — no plastic, no cracking, no peeling — so the design stays soft and breathes with the shirt.

Garment-dyed color. Dyed into the finished garment for a soft, vintage-washed tone with subtle depth — richer and more lived-in than a standard printed tee.

Printed on a premium Comfort Colors 1717 garment-dyed tee — heavyweight ringspun cotton with a soft, broken-in feel and a relaxed unisex fit. True to size; size down for a more fitted look.
