Our premium canvas: Comfort Colors 1717 in garment-dyed Ivory — 6.1 oz. 100% ring-spun cotton with a relaxed unisex fit and a soft, substantial feel. Printed to order in Ohio; usually ships in 1-2 business days. See size guide.

This is a modern take on a hand-coloured engraving, reworking a detail from a plate titled "Musik" that was published in Copenhagen in 1850. The original plate depicted an assortment of musical instruments — a violin with its bow, a flute, a clarinet and a guitar; the artist and publisher of that plate are not recorded.

Here the flute and clarinet have been lifted from the original plate and crossed like a heraldic crest. Both are rendered in warm, pale boxwood tones with crisp black ligatures and bands, brass keys and a flaring bell at the foot of the clarinet, the kind of carefully observed instrument illustration typical of mid-19th-century educational and reference plates.

The pair stands against a theatre curtain drawn by the seller as fine pleated lines with a soft rose swag and a scalloped hem, with the words "Les Vents" — French for "the winds," the old name for the woodwind section — set in small capitals. The curtain and lettering were added by the seller and are not part of the original plate.

Real art, not AI. A modern take on a real original, reimagined, with our own curtain drawing and lettering added. No AI-generated images, ever.

A print that lasts. Water-based pigment inks are pressed into the fabric — no plastic, no cracking, no peeling — so the design stays soft and breathes with the shirt.

Garment-dyed color. Dyed into the finished garment for a soft, vintage-washed tone with subtle depth — richer and more lived-in than a standard printed tee.

Printed on a premium Comfort Colors 1717 garment-dyed tee — heavyweight ringspun cotton with a soft, broken-in feel and a relaxed unisex fit. True to size; size down for a more fitted look.
