This is a modern take on a set of vintage bird illustrations, reimagined into a design called "Dawn Chorus." The original book, artist and date are not recorded, so no attribution is claimed here.
Six hand-colored bird engravings are arranged like a choir, descending in size from left to right. The largest at left is a long-tailed quetzal with an iridescent green crest, emerald back, crimson breast and sweeping white-edged tail. Beside it stand a glossy blue-and-green starling-like bird with a red flank, a rufous-and-green bird with a pale hooked beak, and three smaller birds in blue, violet-and-cream, and bright red plumage. Each is rendered in the fine engraved detail and vivid tinting typical of antique natural-history plates.
The lettering and graphic marks were added by the seller and are not part of the original artwork: the words "dawn chorus" set in blackletter over a flat gold sun, a small "5:47 AM" time stamp, and a voice part labeled beneath each bird — bass, baritone, tenor, alto, mezzo, soprano.
Real art, not AI. A modern take on a real original, reimagined, with our own lettering and graphic marks added. No AI-generated images, ever.
A print that lasts. Water-based pigment inks are pressed into the fabric — no plastic, no cracking, no peeling — so the design stays soft and breathes with the shirt.
Garment-dyed color. Dyed into the finished garment for a soft, vintage-washed tone with subtle depth — richer and more lived-in than a standard printed tee.
Printed on a premium Comfort Colors 1717 garment-dyed tee — heavyweight ringspun cotton with a soft, broken-in feel and a relaxed unisex fit. True to size; size down for a more fitted look.
